الوجيه الحاج : درويش بن كرم بن عبد الله
ولد درويش بن كرم بن عبد الله في أبوظبي عام 1919م ، كان منذ طفولته المبكرة يرافق أخاه في رحلات الغوص حتى أصبح غواصاً ماهراً، عندما بلغ الثانية عشرة من عمره ذهب إلى دبي لزيارة أهله وأقاربه فتعلم القراءة والكتابة بتفوق. وعند عودته إلى أبوظبي عزف عن العودة إلى حياة البحر فعكف على ممارسة القراءة والكتابة والإطلاع فكان شغوفاً بالعلم، فبعد أشهر بدأ بتجهيز خيمة من سعف النخيل لتكون أول مدرسة من نوعها في الإمارة ويسميها المدرسة الأهلية فعُرِفت بمدرسة درويش، وقد كرمته الدولة بجائزة خليفة بن زايد للمعلم، في السادسة عشرة من عمره تولى الإمامة في مسجد السليطي .. تخرج على يده الكثير من أبناء أبوظبي من بينهم معالي الدكتور مانع سعيد العتيبة، مارس درويش التعليم 23 سنة، فقد كان إماماً وخطيباً وطبيباً شعبياً ومعلماً ومرافقاً للحكام ومسؤولاً في ديوان حاكم أبوظبي، استمر في ممارسة أعماله الخيرية إلى أن أدركته المنية في عام 1985م.
Sheikh Darweesh bin Karam bin Abdullah
Born in Abu Dhabi in 1919, since his early childhood he accompanied his brother in diving until he became a skilful diver, at the age of twelve he went to Dubai to visit his relatives and he learned reading and writing, when he returned back to Abu Dhabi he gave up the maritime life and dedicated himself to reading, writing and knowledge, after few months he built a tent made of palm fronds to be the first school in Abu Dhabi, called “the National School” and known as “Darweesh School”, he was honored by the government with “Khalifa bi Zayed Award for Teacher”.
In his sixteenth he became Imam at Salitee Mosque, many figurers was graduated from his school as H. H. Dr. Mana’a Saeed Al Otaibah, he practiced in teaching for 23 years. He was Imam, preacher, physician and companion for rulers, he continued his charitable works until his death in 1985.
