Biggest digital lab for manuscripts Opening in West Africa

On Thursday, January 28, 2016 the biggest digital imaging manuscripts lab in West Africa was opened in Bamako. The project was completed in collaboration between Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage, Hill Museum & Manuscript Library of Saint John\'s University in Minnesota and SAVAMA-DCI organization  in the Republic of Mali .

This Lab includes 12 digital photography studio, and all the equipment, tools, hardware and software needed for work. And there are 22 employees from various disciplines working in it.

The project aims to digitize about 400 thousand manuscripts of Timbuktu manuscripts that existing in libraries and owned by families.
