 Scientific Journey to Dagestan

Dr. Bassam Daghestani Head of Preservation , Processing & Restoration Section visited the Republic of Dagestan from December 4 to 11, 2015 in order to develop a plan for project of the conservation, restoration and digitizing the manuscripts in the Republic of Dagestan, through cooperation with the official authorities, and also in cooperation with the Perry Foundation from Moscow, and the Factum Arte Foundation from Madrid.

Daghestani began his visit by meeting Ms. Paulina Filipova, executive director of the Foundation Perry charity, Mr. Adam Lu, Chairman of Factum Arte Foundation, and the artist Rashid Qureshi, coordinator of the meeting, and discussed with them how to develop a final plan of saving more than 25 thousand manuscripts scattered in many places in the Republic of Dagestan.

Daghestani visited (Makhachkala), the capital of Dagestan, the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences, the National Library, the university, the city of Derbent and the city of Kopaci, and city of Quraish. He checked out the manuscripts there, and he also checked some private groups of manuscripts exist with some families.
