Juma Al Majid Center concludes its participation in a symposium on the importance of historical maps of the Emirates and the Arabian Gulf

Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai participated in a virtual symposium entitled “Historical Maps of the Emirates and the Arabian Gulf: Historical Value and Objective Documents”.
The center’s participation was represented by Mr. Muhammad Hussein, who is specialized in documents and archives at the center. He spoke about the experience of Juma Al Majid Center in archival control of maps, explaining that the center was able to collect 600 maps that varied between historical, geological, political, military and other maps, and the time period extended from 1561 AD. Until the present century, the center works to restore these maps periodically through the restoration department, and they are preserved in an appropriate environment by following accurate preservation standards, with the maps given serial numbers, and their description completed through several elements such as title, editing date, painter, publisher, and a measured statement. drawing, and others.
