Within the framework of scientific and cultural exchange between the Juma Al Majid Center and international cultural and scientific institutions, Dr. Muhammad Kamel Gad, General manager of the Center, visited, on Thursday, June 9, 2022 AD, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Dominican Fathers in Cairo, and was received by Dr. Emmanuel Bizani, Director of the Institute, and Dr. John Darwell, Researcher and Director of the Diamond Program, and former Director of the Institute, and Professor Engy El-Gammal, Head of the Cataloging Department at the Institute.
The visit began with a presentation of the history of the institute, and a review of its various cultural contents. His library is one of the most prominent libraries specialized in Islamic studies in the world, as it includes about 150,000 books and 1,800 periodical titles.
Dr. Muhammad listened to a detailed explanation of the indexing systems at the Institute, specifically the Diamond ILS system that was developed by the Institute by applying FRBR standards, the precise technical solutions it provides, the international institutions working on it, and the future vision for its development. The meeting touched on aspects of joint cooperation between the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai and the Institute in common fields and ways to enhance them in the future.
