Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage received a delegation from the Uzbek Archives Agency. The visit coincided with the International Archives Council being held in Abu Dhabi. The delegation included Ulugbek Yusufov, Head of the Uzbek Archives Agency, and Ilyorbek Boribayev, Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Uzbek delegation was received by Dr. Mohammad Kamel Gad, Director General of the Center, and Dr. Ezzedine Bin Zaghiba, Head of the Studies, Publishing and External Relations Department, and Mr. Anwar Al Dhaheri, Head of the Public Relations Division.
The head of the delegation, Mr. Ulugbek Yusufov, spoke during the meeting about the development of the archive in Uzbekistan and the agreements he recently signed with a number of national archives in several countries, such as Azerbaijan and Turkey. He also expressed the readiness of the Uzbek Archive Agency to discuss opportunities for cooperation with the center.
Dr. Mohammad Kamel Gad, Director General of the Center, welcomed the Uzbek delegation and stressed that the Juma Al Majid Center cooperates with many cultural institutions and centers in all countries of the world, and asked the delegation to send a proposal for cooperation between the Center and the Agency in order to present it to the Agreements Committee at the Center and study the possibility of cooperation and its fields. The delegation then toured the center’s departments and learned about the services provided to all researchers and students, whether inside or outside the country. The delegation also visited the digital imaging laboratory concerned with converting all paper media into electronic copies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Uzbek delegation presented the Center with a commemorative shield, in appreciation of the Center’s role in preserving human heritage. The shield was received by Dr. Muhammad Kamel Gad, Director General of the Centre.
