A delegation from the University of Emirates visited Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai as part of their efforts to familiarize themselves with the services provided by the center to researchers, scholars, and the preservation of human heritage. The delegation included Dr. Ghaleb Al-Briki, Acting Director of the University of Emirates, Dr. Ahmed Murad, Associate Vice President for Research, Dr. Suad Al-Marzouqi, Acting Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Mr. Khalafan Al-Zahiri, Acting Deputy Director for Financial and Administrative Affairs (Secretary-General), Dr. Hamad bin Sarray, Director of the University Library Dean’s Office, and Ms. Ghaliya Al-Ahbabi, Director of Corporate Communication Department.
The delegation was received by Mr. Khaled Juma Al Majid, Abdullah Khaled Al Majid, Majid Khaled Al Majid, and Dr. Mohamed Kamil Jad, the General Manager of the Center, who accompanied them on a tour of the center’s departments. They were introduced to the center’s role in preserving human heritage through the Manuscripts Department, which collects images of manuscripts from libraries around the world, indexes them, and provides them to researchers and scholars.
The delegation also visited the Preservation, Processing, and Restoration Department, one of the leading restoration laboratories in the region. They received a detailed explanation from Dr. Bassam Daghistani, the department’s head, about the processes of restoration, maintenance, and treatment carried out on manuscripts, books, and documents.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Ghaleb Al-Briki expressed his gratitude to the management of the center for their warm reception, praising the center’s significant role in serving knowledge, culture, and preserving human heritage as a prestigious cultural and educational institution in the United Arab Emirates and the region. He presented the center with a plaque from the University of Emirates.
