 Juma Al Majid Center looking cultural cooperation in Malta

Dr. Bassam Daghestani- head of conservation, treatment and restoration department- visited  the Republic of Malta, commissioned by HE Juma Al Majid - President of Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage- to take a look at the Historical Archive of the island and discuss ways of cultural cooperation and assist in the preservation of historical documents and manuscripts.

Daghestani met the Minister of Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo, and the head of the National Archive Carlos Varoja.

The minister welcomed this cultural cooperation and praised the Juma Al Majid\'s efforts in preserving the world and the human heritage.

Daghestani toured in the branches of the National Archives scattered around the island, and take a look at the documents and manuscripts to see their physical condition, and how can Juma Al Majid center can help in the preservation and maintenance.

The visit continued for four days from 13 to August 16, 2015.

Malta\'s location has historically given it great strategic importance as a naval base, and a succession of powers, including the Phoenicians, Romans, Moors, Normans, Sicilians, Spanish, Knights of St. John, French and British, have ruled the islands.
